Crispy Shrimp or Cocktail shrimp

This is one of the easy and tasty shrimp appetizers made within 15 minutes. My sister made these crispy and crunchy snack for a party and was a huge hit. From then on I treat my family with this delicious golden fried shrimp.

Ingredients

  • Large Shrimp(with tail on) - 1 pound
  • Panko bread crumbs - 1 cup
  • Corn flour - 3 tb spoons
  • Egg whites - 3
  • Paprika / Pepper powder - 12 t spoon ( to taste)
  • Garlic Powder -14 t spoon (optional)
  • Salt - 34 t spoon
  • oil for shallow frying

Instruction

  1. Beat egg whites with little salt in a bowl. In an another plate mix corn flour with 14 t spoon salt,garlic powder and 1/4th t spoon paprika. Add 14 t spoon salt and 1/4th t spoon paprika to bread crumbs on another dish.
  2. Dredge the shrimp in the dry mixture of cornflour first, then into the wet mixture of egg whites. Then roll shrimps into the dry mixture of bread crumbs again. Try coating shrimps evenly with bread crumbs on both sides for a crispy finish.
  3. Add enough oil to cover base of frying pan.Shallow-fry shrimp in batches in hot oil. Fry till golden brown on each side.
  4. Transfer shrimp to paper towel to absorb excess oil after cooking.
  5. Arrange crispy shrimp on platter.
  6. Serve with bang-bang sauce.

Tips

  1. Alter seasoning to your preference.
  2. Try not to over-crowd the pan. Shrimp will soak up too much oil and becoming soggy instead of crisp.

Variation

Bake shrimp at 400° for 8-12 minutes or till the coating is golden brown, flipping once in between.
