  • Course: Dessert, Snack
  • Cusine: Indian
  • Preperation Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 minutes
  • Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Sesame Seeds: 1 Cup
  • Jaggery Grated: ¾-1 Cup
  • Cardamom powder: 14 teaspoon optional
  • Cashew pieces: few optional
  • Water: ¼ cup

Instructions

In a Pan, dry roast sesame seeds on low-medium heat stirring continuously.
They change the color and puff little bit.

Take the seeds in a bowl and keep aside.

In the same pan, heat the water and add grated jaggery.
Once the jaggery melts, strain the jaggery liquid(to remove if any debris)

In a pan over medium heat take this jaggery liquid (two string consistency ) and let it boil till it forms a soft ball when dropped in water. Now take away the pan aside and quickly add cardamom and roasted sesame seeds mix it well.

Transfer it into greased plate.Take one tablespoon of mixture and make into small ladoos.

Make sure you make all the ladoos while the mix is still warm.

Recipe Notes

Tips: You can add 1 cup of jaggery,  if you like your ladoos to be on more sweeter side(I added ¾ cup).

  • The same recipe is used to make chikki as well.
  • Wait till the mixture reaches to temp that its not too hot(as it can burn your palms).
  • If the mixture is cooled then its impossible to make ladoos.
  • Before making each ladoo you can touch ghee and rub your palms  and make ladoo as this will give a smooth and shinny ladoos.
  • You can use palm jaggery instead of jaggery(unrefined cane sugar).
  • They stay good for almost a month in airtight box on counter.
