Overcooked Tomato Rice Adai

Occasionally, overcooked rice happens even for the experienced! Its easy to convert it into Overcooked rice adai, a crispy dosa (south Indian Crepe). Different rice items require different cooking times and water levels. If rice or tomato rice turns mushy or soft - no problem - just improvise to this simple adai.

Obviously we feel disappointed to see a pot full of overcooked rice and then a flash of thought tingles into mind to cook something else. Instead, next time, forge ahead to make this Adai.

How To Make This Overcooked Tomato Rice Adai?

Smash the overcooked tomato rice with hands or potato masher. Add little rice flour, salt, oil to it and mix thoroughly. If you are making with plain rice then add cut green chills, curry leaves and coriander leaves with rice flour and oil. Now pat them into thin Adais on greased banana leaf or aluminum foil and transfer to cast iron griddle. I patted directly on cast-iron pan. Leave in medium low heat after adding oil. Flip and cook both sides till it turn golden. Let it crisp nicely for better taste.

Serve this overcooked tomato rice Adai with yogurt or chutney.

Overcooked Tomato Rice Adai

Overcooked rice can happen to even experienced cooks! Its easy to convert them into adai/crispy dosas. If your rice or tomato rice turns mushy and soft , no problem. Just make them in to this simple adai.

Ingredients

  • 12 cup Overcooked Rice
  • 1 tbsp Rice flour
  • Oil as needed

Instructions

  • Smash the overcooked tomato rice with hands or potato masher
  • Add little rice flour, salt, oil to it and mix thoroughly. If its plain rice add cut green chill’s, curry leaves and coriander leaves with rice flour and oil. Make equal size small balls out of it.
  • Now pat them into thin adai’s on greased banana leaf or aluminum foil and transfer to dosa pan. I patted directly on dosa pan. Leave in medium low heat after adding oil .
  • Flip and cook both sides till it turn golden. Let it crisp nicely for better taste.
  • Serve with chutney or yogurt.
